Takahiro Kido: biography

Takahiro Kido is a Tokyo based music composer. He debuted as a member of the chinematic music group Anoice, by releasing their first album, 'Remmings' through Important Records, Boston in 2006. In 2008, Anoice established their label, Ricco Label. Since then, he has released many music works on not only Anoice but also his own solo project, Takahiro Kido and other projects such as RiLF (an alternative rock band formed by the members of Anoice and Matryoshka’s Calu), films (a dark classical music unit, featuring members of Anoice and two international female vocalists who sing in their own originally created languages), mizu amane (Films' side project featuring Japanese archaic languages which are no longer spoken), mokyow (The post-rock band formed by Takahiro Kido and Tadashi Yoshikawa who is the member of Anoice, and the keyboardist Kenichi Kai) and cru (The neo-classical music unit formed by Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata who is the member of Anoice) on Ricco Label and other music labels.

In addition, Takahiro Kido has taken charge of composing and performing music for many commercial adverts such as Armani, Louis Vuitton, Google, YAMAHA, TOYOTA, ASICS, TOTO, TORAY, ANA, TOSHIBA, and etc. Also, he created the soundtracks of some movies such as 'Tusikiji Wonderland' directed by Naotaro Endo and 'Olivier Zahm: Digital Provacateur' derected by Can Evgin and some TV programs such as NHK and WOWOW. Some film works awarded at Venice Film Festival, Prix Italia, National Arts Festival in japan, and Cool Japan Maching Award, Japan Movie Critics Award, and Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata who are the music composers of Anoice, received the Best Original Score Prize at Sapporo International Short Film Festival, and Japan World's Tourism Film Festival.

Takahiro Kido is the owner and founder of Ricco Label, and has also created over 100 tunes a year as not only a music composer but also a mixing engineer and a producer, and playing concerts in Europe and Asia as not only Takahiro Kido but also Anoice and Films.

また、松竹映画遠藤尚太郎監督「Tsukiji Wonderland」、東宝映画真田敦監督「ホノカアボーイ」、Robin Bain監督「Girl Lost」、Patryk Seni Senwicki/Dominic Spitaler監督「Penrose」、Dorothée Lorang/David Beautru監督、「Hikikomori: A deafening silence」Can Evgin監督、「Olivier Zahm : Digital Provacateur」、スタジオマンゴスチン泉原昭人監督「Li.Li.Ta.Al」などの映画のサウンドトラックや、WOWOW 御法川修監督「ダブル・ファンタジー」やNHKスペシャル「君が僕の息子について教えてくれたこと」などのテレビ番組の音楽、モスクワインタナショナルヴィレンナーレにて発表されたウクライナのデザインユニットSYNとのインスタレーション「Enlightenment」、ミラノコレクションにて発表されたファッションブランド、アルマーニの短編フィルム、チェコ共和国のヤナーチェクシアターにて上演されたバレエ「Tanzbrucke 2011」、豊島区区政80周年記念イベント「笑顔のハート」などのイベントの音楽など、様々なシーンの音楽制作を手がけており、ヴェネチア国際映画祭短編映画、イタリア賞、文化庁芸術祭、クールジャパンマッチングフォーラム、日本映画批評家大賞、Japan World's Tourism Film Festivalなど、国内外のイベントで受賞。Anoiceが擁する2人の作曲家であるTakahiro KidoとYuki Murata自身も札幌国際映画祭にて最優秀作曲家賞を受賞している。

加えて、Armani, Louis Vuitton, Google, YAMAHA, TOYOTA, ASICS, TOTO, TORAY, ANA, TOSHIBA, UNIQLOなど、国内外の様々な企業のCM音楽制作を担当しており、作曲家だけでなくエンジニア/プロデューサーとしても、年間100を超える楽曲の制作にかかわっている。音楽レーベル/制作事務所Ricco Label代表。

Our past works are as the discography page, but we usually compose music for various types of video works such as commercial adverts, films, TV dramas, events, and research materials of educational institutions. We particularly excel in documentaries and human dramas which value atmosphere and worldview. We compose and release at least 50 pieces every year.

Regarding the characteristics of our music, we are flexible to compose music that ranges from dark classical music formed by piano and strings to gentle instrumental music with guitar and organ, creating a warmer sound by using acoustic instruments. Beyond this, we also compose electronic music by synthesiser and sampler and popular music featuring vocals, where needed.
